Linda Ross Brown
Linda Ross Brown is a singer, songwriter, choir director and global missionary. Linda’s love of music and passion for serving people in need inspired her to record her freshman CD, Bread of Heaven. This CD consists of ten original Gospel songs based on the word of God that vary in style from Praise and Worship, to Urban and Traditional, to a blend of African and Haitian music. Linda gives a portion of the proceeds from Bread of Heaven sales and donations from her concerts to missions in three developing countries where she serves as a missionary: Haiti, Liberia and Zimbabwe. Linda released a Christmas CD called Linda Ross Brown At Christmas.
Linda’s most recent release is the single entitled, He’s Faithful – remix, produced by multi-Grammy nominee and multi-Stellar winner, Marque “Keybeeetsss” Walker. He’s Faithful emphasizes God’s attributes that sustain us from day to day – His faithfulness, His goodness, His holiness and love for us. Linda’s unique vocals, the driving music arrangement and the powerful message all work in tandem to produce a spiritually uplifting experience for the listener.
Known for her angelic voice and anointed singing, Linda’s gifts and music have taken her to different countries in the world. She was the music leader and workshop facilitator at Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia, November 2015. She sang at the largest gathering of Baptists at the 21st Baptist World Alliance (BWA) Congress in Durban, South Africa in July 2015. She was nominated for the 2015 Rhythm of Gospel Awards in five categories for her CD project, Bread of Heaven. She charted at #2 on Gospel USA Magazine’s Top 30 Chart with her single, “He’s Faithful”. Linda’s TV appearances include: Babbie Mason’s TV Show, Atlanta Live WATC, TBN VA Beach, and Cornerstone TV’s Real Life Show where she ministered in song and shared about her various mission experiences.
Linda also ministers at churches and events in the United States, Haiti, Liberia, and Zimbabwe. She was invited to sing for the Installation Service for the Bishop of Haiti, and she has directed Children and Youth Choirs in each of the countries listed above. Linda is the Choir Director and Psalmist for the Lott Carey Foreign Mission Annual Gathering - Women’s Division. She appeared on “Musical Soul Food Live” in Virginia Beach, and She is the Youth Choir Director at Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church in Pittsburgh, PA. Linda is founder and former singer with the Contemporary Gospel Ensemble/Recording Artists, Voices For Christ.
Linda's music background and God's favor have afforded her many unique and diverse experiences. While teaching music at the Pittsburgh High School for the Creative and Performing Arts, Linda's Choral Ensemble performed one of her original songs for First Lady Michelle Obama and for the 2009 G20 Summit. World-renowned cellist, Yo-Yo Ma, expressed an interest in Linda's song and he performed her composition with the Ensemble.
Linda and her husband, Rev. James E. Brown, wholeheartedly work to provide humanitarian services to people in need on the global mission field and in the US. Together Linda and James Co-founded their non-profit organization, Mercy Acts International (MAI). Some of MAI’s most notable projects include the purchase of a new tractor for the Lott Carey Mission School in Liberia; collection of food and supplies from churches and hospitals that were shipped to Liberia during the Ebola crisis, and currently completing a project to raise funds to dig a well in Zimbabwe. In each of the countries – Haiti, Liberia, and Zimbabwe - Linda ministers in song, teaches music in mission schools, directs choirs and choir workshops, teaches Bible lessons, and more.
Linda originally hails from Kings Mountain, NC, but now resides in Pittsburgh, PA. She received a Bachelors of Creative Arts Degree from UNC Charlotte and holds two Master Degrees from Duquesne University in Music Education and Secondary Education. Linda unashamedly proclaims Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord, and she is grateful that God uses the gift of music He has given her, to help share the love of Christ with His people.
